Hello Beverley Branch,

I had intended to attend the AGM at Armstrong’s tomorrow but unfortunately I am not well. Please give my apologies.

The ERYC results will have been a major disappointment particularly given the incredible hard work which you all did in Beverley.

In some wards there may have been local issues and personalities which contributed to the results however, as with the Euro elections, I think Labour’s fudge on Brexit was very costly.

I admit that I seriously considered voting Green but in the end voted Labour as I have always done. We really need to be clear on this issue and back a people’s vote. Just as a Trade Union would put a deal back to it’s members, the  people should be given the final say.

Hopefully, the visit of Trump will be the start of people seeing the Brexiteers real agenda. The privatisation of the NHS for American insurance companies, substandard imports of food and manufactured goods and the requirement to adhere to US trade sanctions (e.g. Iran and Huawi). Tax freedom for the super rich, abandonment of environmental standards (Fracking) and free market capitalism.

Why else do Aaron Banks, Jim Ratcliffe (Ineos), James Dyson support Brexit?

Why else do those anti establishment rebels like Boris Johnson (Old Etonian, millionaire) Jacob Reece Mogg (Old Etonian, millionaire) and Nigel Farage (Millionaire, Merchant Banker, Dulwich College) support Brexit?

No room to sit on the fence next to that lot.

Yours fraternally,

Paul BURKE
