We stand in solidarity with Ukraine
We stand in solidarity with Ukraine

Ukraine has existed in one form or another for hundreds of years. It is a sovereign nation, with it’s own borders, language, economy and culture. It is a great, historic nation with right to exist.

Invading the sovereign territory of a nation is an act of war – nothing more, nothing less. Vladimir Putin realises this, but he feels he can dominate others and win through sheer overwhelming force.

The statistics about armaments and soldiers may suggest it can be done, the great and incredibly brave people of Ukraine are standing up and fighting. Fighting for their sovereignty, their future and what they hold dear.

Although Ukraine is not a member of NATO, it still deserve the assistance of others. It deserves help to protect itself and defend against the onslaught of Russian forces that form part of Putin’s dictatorial rule.

At times of crisis, we stand together.

The government must take a strong stance – taking actions against Putin and those that have links to them.

There are many things ordinary people. Disproving misinformation, increasing awareness, messages of solidarity, making donations and more.

Last week, this CLP was in Beverley and was able to raise £250, that was sent to International Rescue Committee. £30 has also been raised since then which has gone to the Disasters Emergency Committee. This weekend, we will be back in Beverley attempting to raise even more. If you’re out an about in the area and see us, please consider making a donation. It can be big or small – every little helps.

Alternatively, here is a list of other places where you can make a donation:
