Ron has long standing links to the Beverley & Holderness area, having been brought up in Withernsea as the eldest of six children. He also went to Withernsea High School.

After that time he moved out of the area to study at the likes of Kingston Polytechnic (now Kingston University) and Cranfield University.

Has done everything from teaching, to undertaking and a long spell in the army leaving as a Lieutenant Colonel.

Ron is also an experienced member of the Labour Party and was Chairperson of Bath CLP from 2013 to 2015.
