ST MARY’S WEST BY-ELECTION THURSDAY MARCH 12TH
BARBARA FAWCETT
ST MARY’S EAST BY-ELECTION THURSDAY MARCH 26TH
JACKIE HEFFER
Margaret Pinder, who heads the Labour Group on the Town Council introduces our two Labour candidates, Barbara Fawcett and Jackie Heffer, who have agreed to stand for the Town Council in St Mary’s West and East respectively.
“Barbara Fawcett has lived in St. Mary’s West Ward, Beverley for over 20 years. She is a retired Primary Headteacher with a varied career that has seen her hold headships in Cambridgeshire, Bransholme and Nigeria as well as working as an Educational Consultant in over 200 schools in Yorkshire and Lincolnshire. Barbara served on the Independent Monitoring Boards at HMPs Everthorpe and Hull and she has Chaired the Patient Participation Group for the Greengates Medical Practice for over nine years. This is the first time she has stood as a candidate.”
Jackie Heffer has been a Labour candidate on several occasions. Currently she is a sitting councillor on Molescroft Parish Council. She has a long track record as a community organiser in Beverley where she helped found the food bank for residents suffering financial hardship, as well starting the Stroke Club at the Cherry Tree Centre where she has been a volunteer for many years. She is also currently Chair of the Neighbourhood Watch for the East Riding and a campaigner for better services for young people. Last year Jackie was shortlisted for the Smile Foundation volunteer awards.”
We are fortunate to have such terrific candidates and we hope members will do their best to help them every way possible, even if it is just displaying a poster (you will find these on the back of Barbara’s second leaflet which is to be delivered soon, and Jackie’s when we have her second leaflet available. Tell your neighbours and friends about Barbara and Jackie and how important it is to counterbalance the Lib Dem domination of the Town Council.
Many thanks to Barbara and Jackie for their commitment and dedication and to all of you for support.
Thanks,
Margaret
