Do you want to see Beverley littered with 40+ new telegraph poles? We didn’t think so.

Tory legislation and Lib Dem fence-sitting will mean Beverley’s streets pay the price. As a town relying on its historic, traditional beauty welcoming thousands of visitors every year, we must protect its streets and conservation areas from the unsightly blight of 40 new telegraph poles.

Local Tory MP Graham Stuart won’t commit either way, so it’s Labour Councillors leading the community campaigns. Even new-build areas in South Beverley, where all services are underground, could get poles due to the Tory Government’s poor legislation. They have removed all planning protection and left loopholes to allow cheap poles rather than insist on cabling underground.

It’s lazy planning. It isn’t good enough. We need Labour to protect Beverley.

Labour’s Ron Laden has been campaigning to ‘Stop the Poles’.

He will fight to ensure the council pushes for stronger restrictions on where and how these poles can be installed.

“The plans put forward so far don’t make enough effort to protect the look of Beverley’s streets. The Lib Dem Town Council are dragging their heels on roadworks across the town, and these new installations will only add to the mess on Beverley’s streets. We need a better plan to minimise the visual impact these poles will have on the town and it’s historic, tradition look. I will keep campaigning on this for all Beverley residents.”

To make sure this stays top of the council agenda, vote for Ron Laden on 29 Feb for Beverley Minster and Woodmansey.
